"Today, our great state is at a financial crossroads and I am running for state senate because we need decisive, serious and mature leadership in Juneau to make sure there is a viable economy for future generations."

Dear Friends, Family and Supporters:

We need to ditch the political games both parties play and put Alaska’s future first. I am no career politician but someone who is running to bring fresh ideas and common sense solutions to state government. “More of the same” is not what we need. I believe Alaskans deserve better and that is why I am running for state senate.

My plan to get and keep our economy on track includes:

1. Further reducing government spending;

2. Instituting a spending cap. The ongoing paralysis in Juneau shows
lawmakers’ inability to make difficult decisions. Permanent structural
controls on spending is the best means to prevent future overspending
(including seeking voter approval, if required);

3. Preserving the Permanent Fund Dividend for the long term while using
some of the Permanent Fund earnings to pay for vital state services; and

4. Opposing a state income tax, a quick fix that will do long-term damage
to our economy.
